Emergency Response Coordinator   will be fully embedded into the Emergency Response Unit of SCI Sudan based in Health Facility and on a rotational basis depending on need, with the possibility of deployment to any other parts of Sudan SCI Operational zones. Will have overall responsibility for patient care in her particular professional areas with flexibility to work in other disciplines. The Emergency Response Coordinator   is supervised by the Emergency Response team leader and is responsible for the management of patients in Maternal and Child Health clinics, inpatient wards and patients in isolation wards like CTC and participating in mass vaccination campaigns. Will also be expected to participate in responding to disasters like disease outbreaks, floods, drought and population displacement.

SCOPE OF ROLE: 

Role Dimensions:

  • EM response Coordinator         will be based at SCI CO office supporting health facilities technically, In case of emergencies EM. Coordinator         will be deployed to support SCI team providing health services. 
  • HE/SHE will supervise and lead on ground the team who establishing emergency response clinic, mobile clinics, isolation wards, CTC, SAM Treatment centers etc.
  •  He/she will supervise and lead on ground the team oversee general implementation in health facilities and mobile clinics ensuring all QB are in place. 
  • He/she will report to H&N manger all progress and achievement of project indicator. 
  • He/she will supervise and lead on ground the team who will guide project assistants and implementing staff on SCI clinical standard. 
  • He/she will supervise and lead on ground the team coordinate and facilitate clinical trainings at the field facility. 
  • He/she will supervise and lead on ground the team coordinate and attend meeting with local health authorities guiding emergency response.  
  • She / He will carry out any other duties assigned to her or him by the Line Manager including being the focal point for Child Safeguarding when deployed outside SCI operational areas.

Number of direct reports:

  • Junior staff (e.g. Community midwives, Nurse Assistants etc.) who may be integrated into the emergency response team or who work in health facilities where this Midwife may be deployed.

Work with Emergency Team:

  • Midwifes, WASH Officer, CP Officer and Nutrition Officer

Reports to

  • Emergency health unit lead

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Ensuring SCI clinical standards in place and quality benchmarks are assured. 
  • Provide training to facility staff based on SCI /WHO /MOH standards.
  • Provide direct clinical care to patients when needed.

  • MBBS from recognized faculty of medicines with at least 2 years working experience in a busy hospital.
  • Experience working in emergency settings is a must.
  • Demonstrable experience in ward management and staff supervision
  • Training and capacity building experience
  • Working experience in insecure and remote settings will be an added advantage.
  • Good communication skills

Preferred

  • Previous experience in humanitarian field 
  • Public health diploma or MSC
