Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls. We believe in the power and potential of every child but know this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And it is girls who are most affected.

Working together with children, young people, supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges girls and vulnerable children face. We support children’s rights from birth until they reach adulthood and we enable children to prepare for and respond to crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge.

For over 85 years, we have rallied other determined optimists to transform the lives of all children in more than 80 countries.

We won’t stop until we are all equal.

The Child Protection in Emergency Coordinator will provide:

Leadership in implementing child protection programs within an emergency context, working closely with the Child Protection Sector Lead Manager and other project managers to ensure high-quality services for children and youth. Acting as an ambassador and role model, this role will guide child protection officers and partners in implementing the Safeguarding Children and Young People Policy and foster the integration of child protection in each project across thematic areas.

The position involves overseeing:

Technical guidance in implementing child protection programs, coordinating with key stakeholders at the state level (e.g., UNICEF, UN agencies, and local ministries), and ensuring compliance with child protection standards. The Coordinator will represent Plan International in various working groups, provide support to field-level staff, and manage resources for projects funded by UNICEF and other donors.

Essential criteria for this role include:

A bachelor’s degree in law, social sciences, or a related field, with at least four years of experience in child protection within humanitarian or development settings. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of national and international child rights instruments, experience managing multi-sectoral projects, and familiarity with INGO codes of conduct, such as Sphere and HAP. Skills in stakeholder engagement, teamwork, and effective communication in both English and Arabic are essential, as well as the ability to manage program evaluations and provide staff training.
