The WASH Coordinator will provide:
Essential leadership and coordination in implementing the WASH component funded by UNICEF, ensuring compliance with national standards and donor requirements. The position will involve direct field engagement in water, sanitation, and hygiene activities, alongside technical coordination and support to enhance WASH sector partnerships and advocacy.
The position involves overseeing:
Strategic planning and execution of WASH interventions, working closely with the Project Manager and WASH Specialist to ensure activities meet high-impact standards. Key responsibilities include assessing needs in target areas, developing water supply and sanitation systems, and creating hygiene promotion strategies that are contextually appropriate and sustainable. The WASH Coordinator will supervise implementation phases, provide technical oversight, ensure compliance with Sphere standards, and maintain rigorous monitoring and evaluation systems to support the project’s success.
Essential criteria for this role include:
An advanced degree in Public Health or a relevant field, with a minimum of three years of experience in WASH-focused projects. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a solid understanding of community-based interventions, possess robust planning and coordination skills, and have the ability to manage complexities in a post-conflict environment. Proficiency in both English and Arabic is essential, as is the capability to work effectively with government, donor, and community partners.

Physical Environment
The WASH Coordinator will work in a dynamic environment that combines community-based fieldwork with office-based responsibilities. This role requires frequent field visits, involving travel to target areas, including IDP (internally displaced persons) and host communities, where direct engagement with beneficiaries and local stakeholders is essential. The position may involve working in challenging and post-conflict settings, which demand adaptability and resilience.
