Requirements and Responsibilities:

• Install foundations, walls, floors, ceilings, and roofs using materials such as wood, steel, metals, concrete, plastic, and composite materials.
• Fit and install window frames, doors, door frames, door hardware, interior and exterior trim using carpenter’s level, plumb bob, and laser levels.
• Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground-level.
• Study specifications in blueprints, drawings, or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required.
• Shape or cut materials to specified measurements using hand tools, machines, or power saws.
• Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• Construct or repair cabinets, doors, frames, floors, or other wooden fixtures used in buildings using carpentry machinery, hand tools, or power tools.
• Assemble materials and fasten them together to build frames or props using hand tools, wooden screws, nails, or adhesives.
• Remove or replace damaged or defective parts or sections of structures using hand tools.
• Inspect roof or floor tiles, wall coverings, siding, glass, or woodwork to detect broken or damaged structures.
• Transport necessary materials around the worksite as assigned.
• Clean up the construction site debris.

Carpenter Qualifications/Skills:

• Ability to receive and follow instructions and communicate with coworkers.
• Ability to read labels, safety warnings, guidelines, and adhere to them.
• Attention to detail and constant alertness to ensure safety.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

• High school diploma is a plus.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in commercial or residential carpentry.
